Friday, April 16, 1897

Miss Ophelia Moran passed away at
her home in Argentine, Kansas on
Tuesday, April 13, 1897 with acute
consumption. She was 20 years, 9
months and 21 days of age.

Miss Moran had been a resident in
Frankfort, Kansas for several years.
She received her education and was
a graduate of the Frankfort High
School with honors with the class of
1894. Soon after she graduated,
she went to Atchison county, where
she taught school for one term. She
attendedd the Effingham high school
one term to more prepare herself for
her chosen profession as a teacher.

Last September she securred the
position as a teacher of one depart-
ment in the Bruce building in Argent-

Her health had failed so greatly that
in the latter part of February, she
had to give up her teaching position.
Her health rapidly declined until the
end came.

She leaves her mother, Mrs. Tinie
Moran, two sisters and five brothers
to mourn her passing.

Miss Moran's remains were brought
to Frankfort, Kansas on the train on
Wednesday afternoon. The funeral
services were held by Reverend
Underwood in the colored Baptist
church. Burial was in the Gano
Cemetery, Frankfort, Kansas.
