Dixie Lee Marshall, age 73, Independence, Missouri passed away on Friday November 2, 2012 at Truman Medical Center Lakewood. She was born on February 14, 1939 at Bensenville, Illinois the daughter of Owen and Kathelyna Lonzo Sawyer. She married Gary Marshall on July 20, 1974 at Independence, Missouri. She worked as an executive secretary for Foster Porter Insurance and Hammond Financial. In 1997, Gary and Dixie moved to La Cygne, Kansas to manage the Mangold Funeral Home, retiring in 2007. During this time, Dixie and Gary built a special relationship with Leo and Maggie McRae, former owners of Mangold Funeral Home. Dixie was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, and the Canasta Card Club. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Diana Walter and a brother in law, Carl Harden. She is survived by her husband Gary of the home, a sister Veta Harden of Independence, Missouri and two nieces, Lisa Cea and husband Douglas, and Sheri Harden.

Graveside funeral service will be 11 AM Monday November 5, 2012 at the Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence, Missouri. Dixie will lie in state from 1 to 4 PM Sunday at the Schneider Funeral Home, LaCygne Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Diabetes Association, c/o Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, P.O. Box 304, LaCygne, Kansas 66040.
