Ordell Arnott Aanenson, Jr. was born to Ordell Arnott Aanenson, Sr. and Mildred (Lidenberg) Aanenson in the Fosston Hospital in Fosston, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at the Kingo Lutheran Church. He graduated from Fosston High School in June 1955. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in June 1955 with Warren Johnson from Gully. He was stationed in Camp Pendelton and served his country in Okinawa, Japan, Albany, GA, S&C Department in Washington D. C., Airplane Mechanic training in Memphis, TN, was transferred to El Toro, CA at the USMC Airplane Facility (mail plane to the San Clemente Islands and C30s to Guantanamo Bay and to Jacksonville, Fl), and Vietnam. There was never any base housing for families because the Marine Corps said that "if the Marines wanted you to have a wife, they would have issued you one". He was married to Garnet Trellis Peters on May 23, 1959 at the United Methodist Church in Fosston. Their daughter Pam was born at Bethesda, MD Naval Hospital and Janice and Steven were born in the Santa Ana Hospital, CA. The family moved back to Fosston in June 1964 after an Honorable Discharge from the USMC, and then in June 1966 they moved to McIntosh, MN. Ordell was a life member of the Marine Corps League, VFW Post 6891, and a member of the American Legion Post 114. Ordell worked for LePier's, the Missile Bases in North Dakota, Eickhoff Construction in Crookston, and the pipeline. Ordell then worked with Warren and Daryl Ohren constructing houses, apartment buildings, drug stores, post offices, an addition to the Fosston Methodist Church, etc. Kelly Lindseth helped Ordell in 1995 with construction jobs for several years. Ordell and Garnet owned and operated the Variety Village Store in McIntosh until 1999. He was also the Maintenance person for the McIntosh Housing Apartments. He enjoyed woodworking making chests, furniture, etc. for his family and for special requests from his friends and neighbors. Ordell's other hobby was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Ordell and Garnet took 18 trips to Sturgis, 4 trips to the West Coast, 1 trip to Milwaukee, 1 trip to Glacier National Park, and enjoyed just riding around with friends and relatives. Ordell was an Honorary Member of the Women's Shift Kickers Motorcycle Club in Minneapolis. Some of Ordell's bucket list trips were Yellowstone Park, the ND Badlands, Teton and Rocky Mountains, Alaskan Cruise, Baltic Sea Cruise, and last year's trip to Churchhill, Manitoba, to see the Polar Bears. Ordell enjoyed working in his shop, morning coffee at B & B Café, washing/waxing cars, snow blowing, mowing lawn, and playing practical jokes on many McIntosh people. Ordell was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, McIntosh, MN. On Monday, October 29, 2012 Ordell passed away at Manor Care in Fargo, ND at the age of 75 years. Ordell is survived by his wife Garnet, daughters Pam and Janice, and son Steven, Uncle Willard (Evelyn) Lidenberg, Garnet's brothers and/or sisters, LaVerda (Clayton) Lamaack, Carmen Peters, Gordy (Pat) Peters, Nadine Kotowicz, Curt (Edna) Peters, sister-in-law Kay Peters, and brother-in-law Bodo Kotowicz. He is also survived by his Aanenson, Lidenberg and Peters cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Emojene Aanenson, step father Harry Yergens, and aunt and uncle Ruth and Goodwin Larson.
