William Dale Cherney, son of Frank and Tillie Trecek Cherney was born November 28, 1906, on a farm southwest of Cuba, and died at his home west of Agenda, May 19, at the age of 69 years, 5 months and 21 days.

He attended grade school at the Turkey Creek School and was united in marriage to Julia Irene Havel on August 31, 1927. To this union four children were born. He spent his entire life in the Cuba and Agenda communities and was engaged in farming all of his adult life. Bill was community minded, having served on the school and township boards. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Associate Member of the VFW club of Concordia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Billie Dale, who died in infancy; two sisters, Frances Klima and Elsie Wolfe, and one great-granddaughter, Tammy Kay Myers.

He is survived by his wife, Julia of the home; two sons, Marvin Eugene Cherney, Dale Dean Cherney, both of Agenda; one daughter, Mrs. Irene Gayle Predmore of Concordia; three brothers, Frank of Cuba, Ben of Lincoln, Nebr., Ed of Wilber, Nebr.; one sister, Mrs. Bill Kasl of Cuba, 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 22 at 2:00 at the United Presbyterian Church of Cuba, conducted by Reverend Tom Ballard. Interment was made in National (Kopsa) Bohemian cemetery.
