Edd William Benyshek, son of Stephan and Mary Plevka Benyshek, was born September 16, 1905 at rural Cuba and died September 2, 2004 at Belleville Health Care Center.

He attended Beebe School and graduated from Cuba High School in 1925. He was united in marriage to Anna A. Celoud on February 18, 1930 and to this union two children were born. He was a farmer.

Benyshek served on the Beebe School board, was Cuba city clerk for 14 years, a supervising judge on the election board for 25 years, Richland Township Trustee, National Bohemian Cemetery Secretary, and custodian for 36 years. He was a member of the Western Fraternal Life Association, serving as state secretary for 35 years, and on the National by-laws committee; the Jr. Eagles Lodge of Cuba; Kansas Czechs, Inc., Republic County Czech Club; Cuba Czech Singers; Senior citizens; Lions Club; and a former member of the Cuba Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; granddaughter, Janet Kauer; grandson, Darrel Benyshek; and brothers Joe, Charles and Steven.

Survivors include son, Eugene Benyshek of Cuba; daughter, Doris Kauer of Cuba; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held September 6 at the Cuba Presbyterian Church, conducted by Mr. Henry Strnad. Interment was in Kopsa Cemetery, Cuba.
