*** IN LOVING MEMORY OF ****
Harold Henry George Dau, the son of George and Dora (Horstmann) Dau was born on August 3, 1919 in Sutherland, IA (O'Brien County). He was baptized August 19, 1919 and confirmed in Evangelical Lutheran Church at Calumet in 1933. His childhood days were spent near Calumet, where he attended a country school and graduated from Calumet High School in 1937.

On February 2, 1941, Harold was married to Velma Ebel in her parent's home near Granville, IA. Harold and Velma farmed in the Paullina area until 1956. They purchased a farm north of Sutherland and lived there 51 years.

Harold became a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church of Sutherland, IA, where he served as a trustee, and elder for many years. Harold also was on the Sutherland Coop elevator board for 9 years and Waterman Cemetery Board for 20 years. He was self-taught on the concertina and enjoyed playing for many house parties. He had much fun playing in 'The Little German Band' with neighbors and drumming many years for Delmar Dahnke's Band. Harold and Velma enjoyed 'old time' dances, card playing and fishing.
