Kristin Sighvatsdottir Lynch

Kristin Sighvatsdottir Lynch, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away from this life Oct. 26, 2012. She courageously fought a battle with cancer for 20 months. In her last days she was surrounded by her loving family.

In 2006, she and Chuck moved to Prescott Valley, Ariz. She lived a very full life, enjoyed travel and time with family, and was skilled at a variety of crafts; she was most noted for her exceptional quilting. Always giving and engaged, Kristin was an asset to her community, church, family and friends.

Kristin "Kitty" (Sighvatsdottir) Lynch was born in Reykjavik, Iceland, Sept. 25, 1942, to Sighvatur Bjarnason and Thordis Johannsdottir. Raised by her stepparents, Ingolfur Snorri Agustsson and Asdis Einarsdottir Friman, she had 11 brothers and sisters. Kitty attended Verslunarskoli High School in Reykjavik. She married Airman First Class Charles "Chuck" Lynch of the United States Air Force and emigrated with him to the United States of America in 1961, and naturalized to this country in 1967.

Their life together began in Santa Ana, Calif. In 1971, the family settled in Pittsfield, Mass. Kitty was primarily a stay-at-home mom while her children were young. In 1976, she began her professional life of 30 years working for the Beloit Corporation.

In 1984, Kristin moved to Lanesboro and a few years later opened and operated The Whippletree B&B with husband Chuck. After the B&B, she and Chuck moved to Amherst, N.H., where they lived for 10 years.

She is survived by her beloved husband Charles; sons Michael, John and his wife Darleen and their children, Cynthia and Scott, and Steve and his wife Sheryl and their daughter Sydney.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 7763 E. Long Look Drive, Prescott Valley. A reception follows the service at 12:30 p.m. at Tuscany Way, Prescott Valley.
