Obituary published in the Toronto Republican, Nov. 24, 1910, page 1
Mrs. Edith B. Kerr was born in Calais, France, Sept. 8, 1841, and died in San Francisco, Cal., Nov. 7, 1910, aged 69 years 1 month, and 29 days. She was born to English parents who, while she was quite young, moved to Germany where she was educated. When she was 16 years old the family moved to England. In 1868 she was married to Achibald Kerr and they moved to Switzerland where they lived for a year and where their son, Archibald C. was born. In 1870 they came to Canada, and leaving wife and baby with relatives, Mr. Kerr came to Greenwood County, Kansas, to look for a home. He bought land near Neal, though Neal was not built for many years after. He started the workman to building the home and returned to bring the family to their new home. Here four of their children were born, Edith, Richard, Leila and Norman. The second daughter, Mary, was born in Canada. Three of these children survive. Mr. Kerr the husband died in 1901, and is buried in Eureka, as is the eldest daughter Edith. Richard, the second son, served through the Cuban war, re-enlised and want to the Philippines, where he died, and he lies in the Presidio at San Francisco. Leila, the third daughter, was sent to England to be educated, and her health failing she went to Switzerland where she died and was buried. Two sons and a daughter, five grandchildren, and two sisters survive her.
Archibald and family resided in Toronto, Mrs. R.H. Moore and family at Yates Center, and Norman of Smartville, Calif. The sisters live in England.
