Omaha Daily Bee, January 15, 1911:

KEARNEY, Neb., Jan. 14. -- (Special.) -- Milton Benner, 14 year-old student at the Kearney Military academy, plunged to his death down a toboggan slide this morning. His foot caught in the runners of the sled, the sled was overturned, the railing of the incline gave way and he fell to the earth, crushing his skull.

This was young Benner's first semester at the school. His relatives reside in Council Bluffs and have been notified of the accident.

Omaha Daily Bee, January 17, 1911:

Council Bluffs News - The body of Merton Benner, who was accidentally killed at the Kearney Military academy, was brought home yesterday and taken to the Woodring undertaking rooms. The funeral will be held this afternoon at 2:30 from the residence of the lad's mother at 743 Washington avenue. Rev. Mr. Skogaard, pastor of St. John's English Lutheran church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Walnut Hill cemetery.
