Stella Haws

Stella Haws (nee: Cook), 82 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012, at Mercy Regional Medical Center.

Stella was born April 16, 1930, in Lewis County, Kentucky where she lived until the age of twelve. In 1953, she moved to Brownhelm where she lived until 1999, when she moved to Amherst which has been her home for the last thirteen years.

As a housewife and mother, Stella enjoyed listening to the Rev. Carson Fraley of North Lake Missionary Baptist preach on the radio and television. Stella enjoyed listening to gospel music as well as yard sales and shopping for bargains.

Survivors include her son Terry W. Haws of Georgia; three daughters Connie Brasmer of Moline, Illinois, Pat Hanmer and Debbie (George) Garnder all of Amherst; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; and her sisters Vera Charlton of LaGrange and Dorothea Reed of Peebles, Ohio.

Stella was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years Lawrence Earl Haws in 1999; her sons James and Earl in 1966 and 1990 respectively; her brothers William, Ernest, Henry, and Harold Cook; and her parents William Oliver and Ethel Cook (nee: Howard).

A private burial will be held in Rugby Cemetery, Vermilion, Ohio.
