Funeral for Anita Torres Moran, 65, of Decatur was to be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home with Father Simon Torrez officiating. Burial was to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Visitation was to be from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the funeral. Moran died Wednesday, May 5, in Decatur. Born May 28, 1944, in Rosebud to Jose and Mary Veracruz Torres, she married Manuel Moran April 14, 1962, in Waco. The couple raised two daughters while Manuel served as a technical sergeant in the Air Force. The family lived in Puerto Rico, Nebraska, Spain, North Dakota, Alaska, Ohio and Arizona. The couple moved to Arlington in September 1981.Moran worked as a dental assistant, Sunday school teacher and in the hospital billing department in Anchorage, Alaska, and Tucson, Ariz. She retired from the city of Arlington in 2003 after 20 years of service. She was a member of the Teamsters Union and Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband; daughters, Monica Brown and husband, George, of Decatur and Teresa Schultz and husband, Roger, of Plano; grandchildren, Sydney and Dillan Brown, and Caitlin and Carly Schultz; sister, Lupe Torrez; brother, Jesse Torrez; and nieces and nephews.
