MO Death Cert. #4985

Emanuel was born in Boone County, IN where his grandfather, John A. Bowen, was a founder of the Pleasant View Church where John and many Bowens are buried. Emanuel left Indiana in the fall of 1890 for Nebraska where his father, TJ, later died. He married Middie in 1900 and moved to a farm in Missouri.

Emanuel farmed his entire life and was a very talented man as he was able to build many things on his farm in Bogard,MO, including buildings, a loom, and a wagon. He also was a skilled blacksmith.

As a musician he played the fiddle, Jews harp and Harmonica, and he sang bass at church. "Beulah Land" was his favorite hymn. His in-laws (known as "Ma" and "Pa" Douglas) lived with the family for many years before their passing.

Emanuel died suddenly of a heart attack while working in the barn on a bitterly cold February afternoon. (It was -66 in Wyoming and -23 in Texas). He was almost 61 years of age.
