Amanda Marie Rupprecht, the daughter of August Fangmeyer and Anna (Vorderstraus) Fangmeyer, was born on April 15, 1909, on a farm northwest of Deshler, Nebraska. She died on April 27, 1998, at Parkview Haven in Deshler, at the age of 89.

She was baptized May 2, 1909 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Deshler by Pastor Einfedt, and confirmed July 1, 1923, at St. Paul Lutheran by Pastor G.A. Spring. She had been a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler all of her adult life. Her faith was very important to her.

She attended country school northwest of Deshler. Following the completion of school she "worked out" for families and then was employed at a cafe in Hebron.

On Oct. 9, 1928, in Belleville, Kan. she was united in marriage to Arthur Rupprecht. They had grown up together, living on the same section of farm ground northwest of Deshler. This union was blessed with one son, Wayne.

She worked at the Deshler Broom Factory for several years. In 1959 they moved to Beatrice, Nebraska, Nebraska, where she was employed at a donut shop and then at the Beatrice State Home in the laundry department. Following retirement they enjoyed fishing together.

She moved to Parkview Haven on Feb 9, 1996. Prior to that, she lived independently in her home. Amanda enjoyed tending a flower garden and watching television.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arthur, on Sept. 4, 1987, five brothers: Bill, Martin, Fred, Henry, and Walter Fangmeyer; and two sisters, Ella and Henrietta.

She is survived by her son, Wayne and wife, Lillian Rupprecht of Hastings, four sisters, Louise Pequett of Rapid City, S.D.; Alvina Grummert of Beatrice, Marie Harms and Irene Fangmeyer, both of Deshler, a granddaughter, Kathleen and husband Wesley King of Minden; and a grandson, Robert Rupprecht of Hastings, five great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services were held on Thursday, April 30, 1998 at 2 p.m. from the Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler, Nebraska with Pastor Kenneth Jacobson officiating.
Music was "Softly & Tenderly" with Howard Pohlmann as a soloist. "Amazing Grace," What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Lord Take My Hand," were sung as congregational hymns with Barbara Koester as organist.

Pallbearers were Franklin Tamme, Robert Rupprecht, Wesley King, LeRoy Fangmeyer, Evin Fangmeyer and Harlan Fangmeyer.
Honorary bearers were Gary Baden and Tyler Fangmeyer.

Interment was in the Deshler City Cemetery near Deshler.

Memorials may be sent to Peace Lutheran Church, Deshler.

Ahrends Funeral Home of Deshler was in charge of the arrangements.
