James Gurley Hoots, 85 of Hendersonville passed away Sunday November 10, 2013 at the Elizabeth House after a lingering illness.
A life long resident of Henderson County, he was the son of the late Hilliard and Pearlie McCraw Hoots. He was preceeded in death by a brother Raymond Hoots and a sister Maudine Nix.
Jim retired from Dupont after 26 years of employment and was also an apple farmer. Jim was a gifted, self taught musician, who loved "pickin" with his friends and sons.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years Mary Jones Hoots, a daughter Carolyn Walker {Wayne}, two sons; Gary Hoots {Gale} and Ricky Hoots {Cindy} all of Hendersonville. In addition, he had four granddaughters, four great grandchildren, and a sister Hazel Watkins.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday November 13, 2013 at 11 A.M. at Mountain Home Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Dale Gilbert officiating.
