Roy Horsley, 74, of Portsmouth, died Friday, Sept. 01, 1995, at Southern Ohio Medical Center Mercy Campus. He was born Jan,. 29, 1921, in Portsmouth, to the late John and Martha Jane Neal Horsley. He was retired from the City of Portsmouth Water Works. He was an Army veteran during World War II and a member of D.A.V. Peerless No. 10 in Portsmouth and the Loyal Order of Trench Rats. He is preceded in death by his wife, Florence Mowery Horsley, in October 1992; and two sisters, Lena Ellis and Julia Taylor. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Med Horsley of Tennessee; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Kevin Martz of Portsmouth; grandchildren, Angie Maddux of Cincinnati, Wayne and Allyson Horsley of Jackson, K. Craig Martz Jr. and Holly Martz, both of Portsmouth; one great-grandson, Robbie Maddux of Cincinnati; one cousin, Nathan Carlton of Wheelersburg. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pennington-Bishop Funeral Home in New Boston, with the Rev. Doug Sonnenburg officiating, and interment in Sunset Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Military graveside rites will be conducted by James Dickey Post American Legion.
