MUNCIE--Rosemary J. Kiersztyn, 87, went to her Heavenly home on Thursday, November 1, 2012 after an extended illness. She was surrounded by her children and caregivers at Lynd House in Muncie, IN.

Rosemary was born on January 2, 1925 to Elmer and Ruby Wilson and lived in Indianapolis until moving to Richmond at the beginning of her senior year at Richmond High School. After graduation, she attended Purdue University and majored in journalism. She married a wonderful man by the name of Philip Kiersztyn in 1945 after he returned home from serving in the Army during World War II.

Rosemary put her exemplary writing skills to work while employed at the Palladium Item for many years as a feature writer and reporter. Several years later she accepted a position as Executive Director of the News Bureau at Earlham College. During semi-retirement she enjoyed working as a teller at US Bank on Chester Boulevard. She made many friendships throughout these years of employment.

Rosemary was a very active member of the DANA Retires and served as Travel Director for the group. She loved planning and serving as a "hostess" for JuMa Tours, as well-known local coach company. She made many wonderful memories with this group as they traveled throughout the country to various points of interest.

Rosemary was also a member of West Richmond Friends Church and served as communication chairperson for many years. She faithfully sent birthday and anniversary cards to her congregatoin and served the church in other capacities.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents and her husband as mentioned above and also by Doris Nickel, her sister.

Rosemary is survived and greatly missed by her children, Nancy Young-McGunegill (husband-DeWaine) and Bob Kiersztyn (wife-Barbara Peterson), and a sister, Helen Cowles. She was a very loving grandmother to Krysha (Young) MacDonald (husband-Dan), Monica Shouse, Jason Young, Bobby Kiersztyn, and Sean Kiersztyn. She is also missed by her nieces, Jeanne Elliott and Sharon Calder as well as their respective families, former bank customers, DANA Retirees and her many friends.

The family would like to express our thanks to the entire staff at Lynd House and Vista Care Hospice for the kindness, compassion and support that was extended to Rosemary and family during this last year.
