Edith Hill, the mother of Cair A Hill, died early today in a Redding Hospital at the age of 83.
Funeral services are being arrangedat McDonald's Reddong Chapel.

Mrs Edith Ida Hill, a long-time resident of Redding, died at a Redding Hospital yeserday at the age of 85.
She was born in Kansas 1 Jan 1881, and she came from Washington to California by wagon in 1895, Her father A L Ashcraft was a wagon maker in Redding and French Gulch for many years.
Mrs Hill was a member of the first sencor class to graduated from Shasta County High School, She married in 1906 to henry G Hikk.
Owner and operator of Hare and Hill Insurance Agency in Redding from 1920 to 1946, she was a charter member and past president of the Business and Professional Women's Club.
Mrs Hill was also a past martion of the Order of Eastern Star, Charpter No. 44, redding. and a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, the Daughters of American Revolution and Shasta Historical Society.
She leaves two sons, Henry E Hill of New Jersey and Clair A Hill of Redding, a sister, Mrs Pearl Jacobsen of Seattle, Wash., six grandchildren, including Alan and Malcolm Hill of Redding, and six great-grandchildren
Funeral services for Mrs Hill will be conducted at McDonald's Redding Chapel at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The rev Leo Schlegel will officiate. Interment will be in the Redding Cemetery.
The family has ask that memorial contributions be made to Shasta-Trinity Heart Association, in care of W L Chapman at Market Street branch of the Bank of American in Redding.
