Helen Williams

Helen Lyon Williams, 72, died Sunday, August 12, 2001, at Cedars Health Center in Tupelo. She was born Sept. 4, 1928, in Union County to the late Hollis W Lyons and the late Vera Garrett Lyons. She was a retired employee of the Department of Human Services, where she worked 30 years. She was a school teacher in Okolona in the 1950's and at Chickasaw Academy in Van Vleet in the 1970's. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a Sunday school teacher at Pine View Mission.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Houston with Bro. Bennett Blanton and the Rev. Ron Williams officiating. Burial will be in Ingomar Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Anne (Edward) Martin of Houston and Nanne (Gary) Christian of Dorsey; three grandsons, Scott West, Ryan West and Joshua Christian; a sister Frances Brown of Ingomar; two nephews; one niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Waymon Lyons; a niece, Dianne Snipes; a great-nephew, Jason Snipes.

Pallbearers will be Hollis Brown, Glenn Lyons, Eric Snipes, Mark McCary, Chuck Carlisle, David Heartherly and John David Carlisle.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
