John ''Taffy'' Hoinski, 68, of Plains Township died Tuesday at home. Born in Plains Township, he was the son of the late Teoffil and Sally Barnack Hoinski.

He graduated from Plains Memorial High School in 1945.

He was a self-employed plumber from 1963 until 1979, and last worked as an inspector for the Plains Township Sewer Authority.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Church, Plains; Plains American Legion Joseph E. Conlon Post 558; Plains Lions Club.

He and his wife, the former Mary Mrugal, celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary on Nov. 10, 1995.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, John, Plains; daughters, Elaine Dominick, Wyoming; Sandra; four grandchildren; a brother Joseph, Plains; sisters, Sara Hoinski and Josephine Turner, both of Plains; Jean Schrader, Tucson, Ariz.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday from the Corcoran Funeral Home, 20 S. Main St., Plains, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Saints Peter & Paul Church, Plains.
Internment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton, Kingston Township.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Members of the Plains Lions Club will meet at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home to conduct services.
