STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Longtime Staten Islander Frank Captain, 90, of the Park Lane Senior Residence in Sea View, died Wednesday at home.

Born in New Orleans, he moved to Silver Lake in 1949 and to Oakwood in 1975. He settled in Sea View in 2009.

A graduate of the Textile Technical High School in Manhattan, he worked as a photo lithographer for 48 years in many locations for the American Lithographers of America. He retired in 1988.

Active in many community organizations, Mr. Captain was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Stolzenthaler Council in Charleston; the Watkins-Kellett American Legion Post, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 248, where he served as a past post commander.

He served in the Army as a corporal during World War II in the Pacific Theater, from 1943 to 1946.

He attended the Sea View Chapel and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church, Tompkinsville, and St. Charles R.C. Church, Oakwood.

His son, Michael, died in 2007.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years, the former Luz Flores; a son, Gregory; three daughters, Marie, Jeeney and Anne Captain; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Monday from the Matthew Funeral Home, Willowbrook, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. Burial will be in the Evergreens Cemetery, Brooklyn.
