Mrs. Everilda M. Gosier,
77, widow of Attorney E.
Ralph Gosier, died unexpectedly apparently of a heart
attack—in her apartment at
the Hotel Woodruff, t h is
Mrs. Gosier had called her
sister-in-law, Mrs. A m e l i a
Gosier McDermott, 317 Keyes
avenue, by her bedside telephone shortly after 7:30 this
morning and complained of
severe chest pains. When
Mrs. McDermott arrived at
the-apartment less than 15
minutes later, Mrs. Gosier
was dead. A physician was
s u m m o n e d and he pronounced her dead upon his arrival.
As far as was known, Mrs.
Gosier had not been ill previously. She appeared to be
in her usual health Friday.
Only cousins, residing in
Buffalo, survive her.
Her husband, who was a
practicing lawyer o£ this city
for years, a former clerk of
the'Jefferson county surrogate court and an overseas
veteran of World War I, died
u n e x p e c t e d l y of a heart
attack in their apartment,

1965 at the age of 71.
Their son, John Edward
Gosier, was killed in action
July 13, 1944, during World
War II while serving as a private with an army reconnaissance group in France. He
was 20 years old
Mrs. Gosier was born in
Buffalo Oct. 30, 1890, the
only child of John H. and
Rachael Smith Shifferens and
a member of a family of pi
oneer settlers of that city.
Mrs. Shifferens died h e r e
March 22, 1927 while on a
visit at the Gosier home. Mr.
Shifferens died in Buffalo
Feb. 15, 1941.
She was educated in Buf
falo schools and was a graduate of D'Youville college of
that city.
" She resided in Buffalo until
her marriage to Attorney Gosier Jan. 5, 1922, The marriage ceremony was performed in St. Mark's Catholic
church of that city.
After their marriage, Attorney and Mrs. Gosier lived for
years at 258 Ten Eyck street,
the former Willard E. Saxe
home. Later, they sold the
property and moved to an
apartment at 241 Clinton
street. Mrs. Gosier moved to
the Hotel Woodruff in June,
She was for years active in
the women's auxiliary of the
Mercy hospital, serving as its
president for years, beginning
in 1944..In 1947 she was the
general chairman for the observance of the 50th anniversary of the founding of St.
Patrick's home.
Mrs, Gosier was a member
of St. Patrick's church.
The funeral will be Tuesday morning at 8:30 from the
Wilcox & McCallen funeral
home and at 9 in St. Patrick's
church with a solemn high
mass of requiem Burial will
be in Glenwood cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday night
from 7 to 9 and Monday afternoon and evening from 2 to 4 and.7 to 9.
