                                             Pearl Pilkington

     Pearl Pilkington, 86, of 104 Linden Street, Beckley, died
Saturday evening, July 23, 1994, at her residence following
a long illness.
     Born July 31, 1907, at Alpoca, she was the daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Shrewsbury.
     Mrs. Pilkington was a homemaker and the last surviving
charter member of the Calloway Heights Baptist Church.
She had been a resident of Raleigh County most of her en-
tire life.
     She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hobart
Karnes; second husband, Robert Charles Pilkington; a son,
Clyde Edward Karnes; a half-brother, Hafard Shrewsbury
and a half-sister, Hulda Ross.
     Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Almeda Mallamas
of Beckley; Mrs. Freda Childers of Princeton and Mrs. Mary
Lee Sparks of Winfield; nine grandchildren and seven great-
grandchildren.
     Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Calloway Heights
Baptist Church with Revs. Bill Parker and Fred Sparks offici-
ating. Burial will follow in Calfee Cemetery, Mount Tabor.
     Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Calfee
Funeral Home, Beckley and one hour prior to the service at
the church.
     Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
     Arrangements by Calfee Funeral Home, Beckley.
