RICE - CARMAN
The following, from the Lincoln Democrat, will be interesting to many Garrard county friends of the contracting parties: "A wedding that surprised everybody was that of Miss May Etta Carman and Mr. John A. Rice, of Harrodsburg, Wednesday at high noon, when Rev. J. F. Williams united them in wedlock's holy bonds. The bride had been visiting her sister, Mrs. C. C. Sink, in Lexington. The groom met her when the train arrived at Burgin yesterday and accompanied by Miss Nellie Murphy, the attractive daughter of Mr. W. H. Murphy, and Mr. Joe H. Rice, they drove to Harrodsburg, and the ceremony was performed. Miss May Etta Carman, now Mrs. Rice, is the handsome daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Carman, and is a wife whom her husband is justly proud, as she combines loveliness of face and form with a disposition as sweet as flowers in May. The groom is a fine young man, a prosperous farmer, with friends as numerous as any young man in Kentucky possesses, and he is the son of Mrs. S. E. Rice, who told us yesterday that she is sure her son has won a jewel. The bride's parents did not know until this morning that they had a brand new son-in-law. The young couple and their attendants drove to the home of the groom that evening, in this county, near Hedgeville, where they are at home to their friends."
