Randolph Young "Randy" Woods

Randolph Young "Randy" Woods was born February 16, 1948 in Maury County, the son of the late Charlie and Dorothy Hayes Wood.

Randy and his wife, Faye, had been together since they were 14 years old and both students at Hay Long High School in Mt. Pleasant. They were married for 47 years this past April. Faye said that she still remembered the first time she saw Randy walk through the doors of the school and she thought he was the most handsome young man she had ever seen. Randy was the owner and operator of Woods Body Shop at Rockdale. He was an outdoorsman at heart and loved hunting, fishing and racing. Randy was a member of the Whispering Hills Free Church of God in Summertown.

Survivors in addition to Faye include their daughters: Melissa (Mark) Hayes, Rhonda Woods and Wendy (Russell) Thomason, Jr., of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Maegan (Jon) Mullins of Mt. Pleasant, Matt Hayes of Mt. Pleasant, Blaine Thomason of Lewisburg, Shelby Thomason of Mt. Pleasant and Sydney "Brother" Thomason of Mt. Pleasant; two great-granddaughters: Mylie Mae and Mattie Belle Mullins; special friends, Evelyn and Danny Luckett of Mt. Pleasant; a special uncle, Dalton Hayes of Summertown; three brothers, Ray (Nita) Wood of Valdosta, GA, Morris (Pat) Wood and Boyd (June) Wood, both of Columbia. In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by a brother, Wade Woods.

Randy passed away on Friday morning, July 6, at his residence.

Funeral services conducted in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Marvin Potts officiating. Burial in Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.

Pallbearers will be Paul Potts, Paul Nichols, Roy "Killer" Henson, Warren "Copperhead" Burks, Shay Duberry, Barry Hines, Rick "Catfish" Clawson, Hunter Robinette, Jerry "Cheeseburger" Burks, Zeke Sharp, Terry "Bones" Odom, Jimmy "Monk" Mullins, Joe "Baby" Burks, Tony Brawner and Ricky "Skoosky" Duberry.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Cancer Center of Columbia including Dr. Woodley, Dr. Mike, Dr. Joel and Nurse Beth; Jimmy "J.O." Oliver Angie Adams, all the employees of Woods Body Shop along with the businesses Randy did business with, including Tony Smith Auto, Larry Smith Auto, Bobby Darnell Auto, Shorty Fields Auto, Die Hard's Towing and Stoney's Towing.
