Richard Collins served as an African-American Auxiliary with the Independent Loudoun Virginia Rangers (USA). He enlisted as a drummer on May 31, 1862.
He was married to Marietta M. Timbers, and their children were John Henry, Frederick, Massie L., Ella, William, Leaford, Marie, Grace, and Angelina.
