Catholic Layman In Auto Business
London, Ont., Jan 8 (CP) Arthur P. Maguire, president and general manager of Maguire Motors Ltd. here and well known Roman Catholic layman, died Saturday after a three week illness from a heart condition.He was in his early 60’s.
Native of Hamilton, he was educated there, and in his youth , was a telegrapher and later a salesman with the Bell Telephone Co. He had been associated with the automotive business about 30 years in Hamilton and London.
He had been active in auto dealers’ associations in the provincial as well as national fields.
Mr. Maguire had been prominent in Catholic diocesan activities, was a separate school trustee 14 years and former board chairman, and one of thje founders of the Catholic Cultural Centre. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He leaves his wife, Mary; one son, William Joseph, London; two daughters, Mrs. Edith Bryant, London; Mrs. Margaret Niosi, Toronto; one sister, Mary Ellen, London.
