From Jesse Dewey's GAR Honor Roll Book: *Capt. Frank P. Flynn: Enlisted 10.11.1861, at the age of twenty-one years, in Co. E 1st VT Cavalry for 3 years and was mustered into the US Service 11.10.1861 as private. He was captured and paroled 9.2.1862 and re-enlisted 12.28.1863. He was appointed Corporal 1.1.1864; and discharged 4.9.1864 in order to accept a commission as 2nd Lieut.; is dated 2.13.1864; he was appointed 1st Lieut. 2.23.1864, but he was not mustered until 4.23.1864. He mustered out at the close of the war 7.15.1865. He was brevetted Captain U.S. Volunteers to date from March 13, 1865 for faithful and meritorious service. He was a good soldier and served in the arm of service; the best suited his spirit of caring and adventure and the government recognized his ability by promotions. He died 1.30.1909 in Massachusetts, but his burial place is in Lebanon where his old comrades can scatter flowers on the grave of one ever true to his adopted country, as Memorial days shall yearly come.
