William S. "Bill" Rogers Jr., 79, Fayetteville, died May 9, 2001. He was born Jan. 9, 1922 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He had served in the United States marine Corps for 7 years in World War II; and retired from the United States Army in 1965 after serving 17 years as a CWO. He taught electronics at Atlanta Area Tech for 15 years. He was a member of the Haymarket Masonic Lodge #313 F&AM in Virginia and was a member of Fayette Presbyterian Church. He worked as a volunteer with the Fayette Samaritans.

Services were at the Fayette Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Westlund and the Rev. Bill Nesbitt officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, College Park.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Frances Stewart Rogers, Fayetteville; a sister, Warrene Rogers Firth, New Orleans; and sisters-in-law, Betty Thrasher Lawrence, Alpharetta and Carolyn Stewart Nelson, St. Petersburg, Fla.

Memorial donations may be made to Fayette Presbyterian Church or Portsbridge Hospice.
