DEATH OF FRANK L. SMITH
Mr. Frank L. Smith, a former resident of this county and well known here, died at a hospital at Cedar Rapids, Iowa last Thursday. He had been in ill health for several months past. He died suddenly of heart disease , superinduced by hemorrhage of the lungs. Until recently he had been working for Mr. S. A. Davenport, at Waxahachie, Texas, but went to Iowa on account of failing health. His wife, Mrs. Sara Collins Smith, left immediately upon hearing of his death by telegram, and had his remains embalmed and brought back to his old home at Sulpher Springs for burial. Mr. Smith burial occurred at 3 o'clock Monday evening at the Fitzhugh burying grounds at Sulpher Springs. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. H. Barnett, of the Baptist Church. Rev. Barnett delivered a very touching and beautiful discourse upon the life of the unfortunate young man, reviewing the career of the deceased and especially his boyhood days when he attended school taught by Rev. Barnett at Auburn, KY. Rev Barnett spoke feelingly uon the subject and his remarks were very truly and timely.

At the conclusion of Rev. Barnett's discourse the beautiful casket containing all that is mortal of Frank Smith was consigned to mother earth, and this sad chapter was closed. For Frank Smith life's stormy period is over. There was much in it that was commendable. Whatever his frailties, faults or transgressions, let us cast over them the mantle of charity and join in hoping that he may rest in peace.

The following is from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Evening Gazette, April 30. "The remains of Frank L. Smith, who died at Mercy Hospital Thursday evening, will be taken to Narrows, Kentucky, tonight for funeral and internment by the bereaved wife, who arrived here this morning. Mrs. Smith is a most estimable lady and is engaged in the mercantile business at Hartford, KY. Mr. Smith came from a prominent Kentucky family.
