Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Johnson Kuriappilly as celebrant. Burial will be at the ND Veteran's Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 3:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Women of the Moose Ritual at 6:30 pm, a Christian Mother and Catholic Daughter Rosary at 7:00 pm and a Parish Vigil at 7:15 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Anna was born on May 24, 1923 in Hazen, North Dakota to David Richter and Rebekkah Kunz. She grew up on a family farm and attended a rural country school north of Hazen and then later, Bismarck High School. Anna married Simon T. Ehlis on January 5, 1943 at Camp Edwards, Massachusetts and on January 17, after twelve days of marriage, Simon headed overseas with the Army and he was gone for almost three years. After Simon's return, their only child, Ron, was born in 1946. Because Simon worked on the railroad and put in long hours, Anna spent much quality time with Ron while he was growing up. After Simon's retirement, Simon and Anna went on tours of the east coast, drove out to the west coast many times to visit family and spent much time fishing in Canada. They enjoyed going dancing on Saturday nights, doing waltzes and polkas, playing cards with family and friends and spending time with their four grandchildren, who were a very important part of her life. She was on a bowling league and bowled for many years. Her best times were spent outdoors working in her backyard and in the fall of the year, attending festivals in small towns close to Mandan. Anna and Simon were members of the American Legion, Elks, Moose, Knights of Columbus, Eagles and Veterans of Foreign Wars and Anna was a 50-year member of Catholic Daughters of America.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Hertha Richter, Oline Colfer, Olga Magnon, Wilma Ramirez, three infant brothers, Arthur, Emil and Ervin Richter; her husband, Simon and infant grandson, Jason Garett.
