Elizabeth was a writer who specialized in children's books. Her short stories appeared in a number of magazines, including Cosmopolitan. Elizabeth's husband, Frank, worked in the oil industry when it was in its infancy. The Wade family lived for many years at 321 Hudson Street.

After Frank died in 1906, Elizabeth became very interested in photography, an art that not many women were involved in at that time. She became so good at photography that she was made an editor of the American Journal of Photography. She teamed with friend Rose Clark to enter photos in the International Art Exhibit in Turin, Italy, and won gold medals. This was quite an accomplishment for women at that time.

Elizabeth was president of the Scribblers from 1906-07 and was very active in that literary club. Her daughter, Blanche, was also a very well known writer for many magazines.

Elizabeth, Blanche, and Frank are buried in the family lot at Forest Lawn.
Section AA, Lot 46. Elizabeth is buried with no headstone.
