GINNY "GRANNY" DAVIS Virginia Davis, 89, passed away in her home in Mission on Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Born and raised in Missouri, Ginny moved to the Rio Grande Valley with her husband Joe and son Bill in 1946. She was preceded in death by her parents Raldo and Grace Haden, her husband Joe Davis, and her brother Bill Haden.

She soon became a vital part of the Edinburg community, raising three children and volunteering in civic activities. She served as president of Edinburg Junior Service League, and she continued her participation in Edinburg Senior Service League until recently. Through the years, Ginny's contributions of time and talent extended into Mission where she was awarded honorary membership in Mission Junior Service League. In 1995, she moved to Mission where she continued her important roles as wife, mother, grandmother, carpooler, girls' sports fan, and "granny roll" maker. Ginny enjoyed life, considered each new day a gift from God, and brought joy to those who knew her.

Ginny is survived by one daughter Jenny Hudsonpillar (Mike) of Mission, two sons Dr. Joe Davis, Jr. (Pam) of Nacogdoches, and Bill (Brenda) Davis of Lufkin. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Grandchildren are Thad Davis, Dr. Bryan Davis, Flo Henderson, Martha Hunter, Ruth Ellen Macias, Gracie Hudsonpillar, Lisa Busbice, Sarah Spivey, and Kathy Summers.

A memorial service at Ginny's home, 1509 Betty Drive in Mission, followed by a time of fellowship and celebration of her life, on Saturday, November 10th 2012 at 10 a.m. Pastor Laura Brewster will officiate.

Through her life, Ginny enjoyed relationships with church families in both Edinburg and Mission. Her family suggests donations be made to First Methodist Church, Edinburg: 3707 West Highway 107, Edinburg, Texas 78539; First Presbyterian Church, Mission: 1102 Ash, Mission, Texas 78572; and Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley: Box 6251 McAllen, Texas 78502. A memorial service at Ginny's home, 1509 Betty Drive in Mission, followed by a time of fellowship and celebration of her life, on Saturday, November 10th 2012 at 10 a.m. Pastor Laura Brewster will officiate.
