Visitation will be 11 a.m. until noon Saturday in Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home, followed by a family devotional service. Private burial will be held. Memorials: Woodland Chapel Presbyterian church or Scovill Children's Zoo.
Mr. Payne was born in Decatur on April 2, 1913, son of Richard W. and Carrie Litzner Payne. He attended Stephen Decatur High School and Woodland Chapel Presbyterian church. He owned and operated Auto Glass & Supply Co. in Decatur for 25 years. He also was employed by Decatur Auto Body and B&B Glass Co. He was a manager of Shat-R-Proof Corp., Omaha, Neb.
He married Maxine A. Newell on June 21, 1941 in Omaha.
Surviving are his wife; sons, Larry N. Payne of Decatur; Thomas M. Payne of Bristol Ind.; grandsons, Adam and Nathan and granddaughter, Erin of Bristol.
His parents, three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
