Allison Emanuel Corkum Bridgewater Bulletin

Allison Emanuel Corkum passed away at his home Monday, July 9, after an illness of six weeks, at the age of 63 years. Born at New Cumberland, February 2, 1888, he was the son of the late Elisiah and Melinda Corkum. Married in 1911 to Edith Loretta Bush, he spent most of his life in Lunenburg County, except seven years in the United States.

For the past 21 years he conducted a fish market in Bridgewater.

He was an active member of the LaHave River Yacht Club and the Bridgewater Retail Merchants' Asssociaton. He was a member of Bridgewater United Church.

Surviving are his wife; five sons, Carlson, Lloyd, Clayton, Gerald, and Cyril, all of Bridgewater; eight grandchildren; also two half-brothers and one half-sister, Agnes, Mrs. Clarence Wamboldt of West Dublin.

Funeral services were conducted from the Bridgewater United Church Wednesday afternoon by the Rev. Mr. Scoates in the absence of Rev. M.C.P. Macintosh. Hymns played were "Nearer, My God, to Thee," "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," and "The Old Rugged Cross."

The pall-bearer were members of the LaHave River Yacht Club, Charles Greene, Fred Surbeck, Chas. Wentzell, and McGregor Miller. Interment was in Brookside Cemetery.
