Mrs. Sparks Passes After Long Illness
Death Comes to Comanche Residence After a Year's Illness
Funeral services for Mrs. Beulah Anita sparks, wife of C. E. Sparks, who passed away at their home northwest of Comanche, Monday morning were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the First Baptist church with Rev. C. P. Alcorn, assisted by Rev. Edgar Pierce, of Duncan and Rev. W. A. Carleton, conducting the services. Interment was in Fairlawn cemetery with arrangements in charge of Beeson Grantham.
Mrs. Sparks formerly lived in Comanche while her husband was in the employ of the City Light and Water Plant and has a host of here. Before her marriage she was Miss Beulah Benson. She was a member of the First Baptist church here for a number of years prior to her death.
During the last year her health had been steadily falling and during the past few weeks she had been seriously ill.
Besides her husband her immediate family surviving are Flora, age 10, Sammie Joy, 9, and Nolen Edward, 2.
Obituary
Beulah Anita Benson was born near Fort Smith, Ark., February 17, 1898. In early childhood her parents moved to Montague County, Texas. There resided until 1907, when the family moved to Comanche, Oklahoma, and has made this her home since.
She was converted at Oak College in 1911 at the age of 13, uniting with the Missionary Baptist church at that time.
On Sept 3rd, 1922 she was united in marriage to Cassius E. Sparks. To this union three children were born. Flora Gene, age 10, Sammie Joy, age 9, and Nolen Edward, age 2.
Mrs. Sparks departed this life January 28, 1935.
Besides her husband and children she leaves her father, J. N. Benson, six brothers, J. R., D. O., H. N., H. F., and J. W., three sisters, Mrs. J. E. Andrews, Mrs. B. E. Malone, and Miss Leatrice Benson, of Comanche, Okla., and many friends distant relatives to mourn her going, many of whom were here for the funeral.
Among the out of town relatives who were her for the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Benson, her parents, and Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Andrews, Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Benson, all of Hereford, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Benson, Happy, Texas, Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Benson, of Shamrock, Texas, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Benson, of Duncan, Mrs. F. A. Sparks, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Sparks and Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Sparks, all of Ringwood, Oklahoma.

Note: Since Mrs. Sparks burial a new entrance gate has been erected closer to the highway. The old gate to Fairlawn Cemetery is still open, the name has been removed. The most direct route to Mrs. Sparks grave site is through this older gate in the old section.

Sammie Joy (Sparks) Smith joined her mother on September 4, 2007, her final resting place is Woodberry Forest Cemetery, Madill, Marshall County, Oklahoma. Find A Grave Memorial # 23352367.
