Kenneth W. Ackman, 61, of Hampshire, died Thursday, Aug. 15, in St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
He was born Feb. 27, 1924, in Hampshire, the son of August and Augusta Ewert Ackman.
He had farmed in the Hampshire area for more than 20 years and had been employed as a technician for the Orkin Company of Elgin for 15 years. He was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the Pacific.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and VFW Post 8043, both of Hampshire.
Surviving are his wife, Clara Timm Ackman, to whom he was married Feb. 8, 1947, in Immanual Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake; three sons, David (Diane) stationed with the Air Force, Timothy (Gail) of St. Germain, Wis., and Raymond (Susan) of Viroqua, Wis.; three daughters, Mrs. Alvia (Sharon) Lee of Estes Park, Colo., Mrs. Jeff ( Susan) Bitson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Mrs. Thomas (Arlene) Collins of Oxnard, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. John (Arlene) Laing of Woodstock.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen; a grandson, Brian Ackman; and a brother, Stewart.
Services were held Saturday in Trinity Lutheran Church, the Rev. Larry G. Seiferth officiated. Burial was in the Hampshire Center Cemetery.
Fredrick Funeral Home, Hampshire, was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the church.
