So much history was written of the Ephraim Eastman family in Andover, NH. For some reason, James Monroe seemed to be left out. He was the youngest of his siblings.

He married Mary Green Sawyer in Weare, NH in 1840 and settled there after. In June of 1870 he is still residing at Weare at the age of 50, and still separated from his family. The only explanation I could find for his being in Boston by January of 1871 was his job of mining stones.

James Monroe must have been an extremely private person, firstly by not bonding with the town he was born in, secondly by not having contact with his family, and thirdly by not making it into the history books as the rest of his family did. He only had the two surviving children left of his marriage, and one was actually lost not quite two years after his death. He is with his children now.
