Fear Grips Neighbors of Slain
Fayetteville - Fear hangs over residents of an apartment complex near Fort Bragg following the beating deaths of four neighbors. Most of those who remain have loaded guns at the ready. Some have move out.
"You never know if some crazy will return to the scene of the crime," neighbor Roger Holt says. Holt, a 24-year-old Army Sargent, found the bodies of the William Lee Shumay family during the weekend.
Those occupants of apartments - where the units are so close you can hear through the walls - have gone to motels or moved in with neighbors.
Shumway, 22 was an Army private. Killed with him were his wife, Robyn, 19, her sister, Shari Hill 18, and Mrs. Hill's son, Shaun, 18 months old. Police said all were from Inverness, Florida.
Buried in same area as William & Robyn Shumway and Joyce Hakey (Grandmother).
