Allan Robert Cushman, age 86, was called home by his Lord on October 27, 2012. Allaln was born on June 11, 1926 in Orland, California, where he was raised on the family ranch. Allan helped his parents raise sheep and hogs. They grew barley, hay, wheat and rice. During his high school years, he drove the school bus for the local two room school. Allan was in the United States Army, serving overseas in Germany. Allan was a World War II Veteran, having served in the European Theater with the HQ Battery, sr' Armored Field Artillery, First Armored Division.
Allan was Honorably Discharged on October 26, 1948 at Ft. Bliss, Texas. Allan was awarded the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star, World War II Victory Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. Allan worked on Early Radar Systems, testing the V2 Rockets at White Sands Missile Range, and was also a Military Courier. Allan was united in marriage to Charlotte Lucille Andresen on December 21, 1947 in EI Paso, Texas. Allan was preceded in death by both parents, Fredrick Brewster Cushman and Camille Mariner Smith, two brothers, Fredrick Hamilton Cushman and Barnett Cushman, also loving wife, Charlotte Lucille Cushman. Allan is survived by daughter, Deborah Erickson and her husband, Erik of Las Vegas, New Mexico,
also son, Timothy Cushman and his wife, Janie, of Sandia Park, New Mexico. Allan has nine grandchildren, John Erickson of Fairfax, Minnesota. Janet Posey and her husband, Cody, of DeRidder, Louisiana. Karl Erickson and Jacob Erickson of Las Vegas, New Mexico, Rob Cushman and his wife, Joy of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ryan Cushman and his wife, Emily of Sandia Park, New Mexico, Chearsten Webb and her husband, David of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Cassie Andersen and her husband Mark of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and Daniel Cushman of Sandia Park, New Mexico. Allan has six great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and loved extended family. Allan started work for EI Paso Natural Gas Company in 1951 in EI Paso, Texas working as a Pen & Ink Draftsman, making fireproof drawings. Later he began work in the natural gas pumping stations, beginning at the bottom level and worked his way up to a Supervisory position which he overlooked various stations in the southwest. Allan retired after 35+ years. During his life, Allan enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, wood working, macrame, carpentry, ceramics, playing cards, listening to music, loved to play the C Melody Saxophone and Electric Steel Guitar. Allan also enjoyed putting together model airplanes, ships and cars. Allan loved dogs. Allan enjoyed the United World College Students, of which he had students from around the globe come through his home for about 10 years. Memorial services will be conducted on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Peace Church, corner of 8th Street and National Avenue, Las Vegas, NM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Peace Church.
