THOMAS GURNETT, OLD MAIL CARRIER, IS DEAD

Had Been Omaha Postman for Twenty-Four Years – Survived by Eleven Children.

Thomas Gurnett, one of the oldest mail carriers in Omaha died Monday night on his 54th birthday after a long illness. Mr. Gurnett had been an Omaha mail man for twenty-four years. He resided at 3310 Burt street. He had been ill for some time with rheumatism.

Mr. Gurnett is survived by eleven children, three of whom reside in Washington, D.C., and the rest in Omaha. Mrs. A. B. Hinterlong is a daughter, and other children reside at the family home.

For a good many years of his service, Mr. Gurnett had a route in the West Farnam district.

THOMAS GURNETT FUNERAL IS HELD AT ST. CECILIA’S

The funeral of Thomas Gurnett, the old mail carrier who died last Monday night on his fifty-fourth birthday, was held yesterday from the St. Cecilia church, Fortieth and Burt streets, at 10 o’clock.

Mr. Gurnett served as a postman in Omaha for twenty-four years. He is survived by eleven children, three of whom live in Washington, D. C., and who arrived Thursday night.

The Rev. D. P. Harrington conducted the funeral service. Interment was at the Holy Sepulcher cemetery.
