Ruby Genevee Layssard Bricker passed away at her home in Lacey, Wash., October 12, 2008 after a 20 year illness. She was born in Boyce, Louisiana January 25, 1918 to the late Harriet and Walter Layssard of Bayou Rapides, Louisiana. Ruby spent her early years growing up in Rapides Parish, Louisiana, and moved to Aberdeen with her family in 1953. She accompanied her husband, Harold Brickner to San Diego, Calif. in 1974. They lived there until his retirement from the US Post Office. After retiring, they moved to their current home in Lacey.
Ruby was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was known for her artistic talents and projects, which were
always visible in her home.
Ruby is survived by her husband, Herold Brickner of the home: son Earl Malone and wife, Hannelore, of Concord N. C.;
son, Huey Malone of Aberdeen; brother, Charles Layssard and wife May-Dee of Lena, La.; grandchildren, Harriet, Kurt,
Gary, Donnie, Ruby, Michael, Stephen, and Robert Malone; and 15 great-grand-children. Ruby was preceded in death
by brothers, Walter, Leo, Leon Layssard, and sister, Martha Lou Marion, all of Louisiana.
The family would line to say thank you to all the friends who devoted countless hours of friendship to Ruby during her
many years of illness, especially to neighbors Robert Smith and family, and Gregory Leppert and family, who were true friends during this time of need.
A funeral service will be held at 9:30 am, Saturday, October 18, 2008, at Whiteside Mortuary, in Aberdeen, and the burial will be at Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen. There will be a reception following the service at the Malone residence, at 17 James Dr., Wishkah Valley.
