Benjamin was the oldest son of Charlie J. and Martha Davis Christie. He was drafted during WWI and served in the U.S. Army as a Private in the 156th Depot Brigade. Ben never married. During his later years he lived with his brothers Norman Christie, Raymond Christie, and with his sister, Ola Christie Ash. Benjamin worked for the Bell Telephone Company. He is the only member of his immediate family buried in Oak Lawn Cemetery. His parents and Paternal grandparents are buried in Hopewell Cemetery in North Columbia County near the Suwannee River where he was raised.He had full brothers named Robert, John Martin, Finley Charles, William Asbury,Norman, Henry C., and Marvin Charles Christie and a sister named Ola. He had 1/2 brothers and sisters with the same Father and different Mother ( Mary Ogburn): Zola, L.D., Addie Mae, George, Raymond, Clyde Price, Herbert and Mary Elizabeth. It should be noted that his last name is spelled " Christy" on his tombstone, which is incorrect.
