Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Monday at First Presbyterian Church. Rev. John Hinkle will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Dr. Shacklett is survived by his daughter, Nancy Shacklett Turpin Ammerman and her husband Ed of Murfreesboro, sister, Sarah Tinsley of Marrietta, GA, granddaughter, Elizabeth Turpin Hamby and her husband Jeff of Murfreesboro, grandson, Paul Arthur Turpin and his wife Maria Stephanie of Knoxville, great grandchildren, Ivan Fisher, Margaret Minerva Hamby, Melvin Charles Hamby, and Lucy Turpin.
Dr. Shacklett was a 1937 graduate of Murfreesboro Central High School, a graduate of MTSU, and The University of Tennessee Medical School in Memphis. He was a veteran with the United States Navy serving in the South Pacific during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Dr. Shacklett practiced medicine in Rutherford County for over 50 years and at the time of his death was the oldest living physician in the county. He was admired by his peers for his diagnostic ability and was beloved by many generations for his dedication and compassion to his patients.
Visitation will be from 3:00 until 6:00 PM Sunday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Pallbearers will be Ivan Fisher, Jeff Hamby, Bill Shacklett, Chanto Sourinho, Michael Odom, Charles Odom, Tom Ragsdale, Jimmy Wells, Murray Miles, Wade Gaither, Tom Christy, and Nathan Fisher.
