Loretta Marie Chisholm, 80, passed away in her Moorhead, MN, home on Monday, October 22, 2012, under the care of her daughters and Hospice. She was born July 5, 1932, on a farm near Beltrami, MN, to Francis and Amelia (Archambault) Ricard.

At the age of seven, speaking French and English, she began attending a country school and later graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in Crookston, MN, in 1951. She was united in marriage to James Edward Chisholm, at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Crookston, on November 12, 1951. Together they farmed and raised seven children near Gary, MN. She and James moved to Ada, MN, in 1983.

Loretta was a devoted wife and mother. She was also very kind and thoughtful to others, often crocheting beautiful afghans for family and friends. Loretta always kept her sense of humor and rarely did anything for herself. She would rather help others.

Working very hard was a way of life for Loretta and faith was her unshakable foundation. She was an active member of the Catholic Church wherever she resided. After her husband of forty-two years passed away, Loretta moved to Moorhead in 1996. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moorhead.

Loretta generously served in and supported many organizations such as the Ladies Auxiliary and Catholic Daughters. Loretta also enjoyed working as a nurse's aide at the Twin Valley Nursing Home and the Ada Hospital. She loved music and also took pleasure in her good luck once in awhile at a casino. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her friends and family, especially her children and grandchildren. She leaves behind numerous friends and family members wishing she would have had more time with them. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her seven children, Barb (Gregory) Seelhammer, Moorhead, Daryl (Carla) Chisholm, and Kevin (Jean) Chisholm , both Gary, MN, Byron (Lisa) Chisholm, Osakis, MN, Randal (Dawn) Chisholm, Hawley, MN, Darcy (Dale) Nordick, Moorhead, and SuRae (Albert) Schmidt, San Tan Valley, AZ; thirty grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren, and one stepgreat-grandchild; two siblings, Ardelle von Tiesenhausen, Huntsville, AL, and Norma Hoppe, Crookston; and many nephews and nieces. Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, James Chisholm; her parents; three brothers and two sisters.

Visitation for Loretta will be Thursday, October 25, 2012, from 6 – 8 PM, with a prayer service at 8 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

The Funeral Mass will be Friday, October 26, 2012, at 10:30 AM, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.

Burial will be Friday at 2 PM, in the Ada Municipal Cemetery
