Ernest H. Jones, former town clerk and service station operator of Pittsboro, died Friday in the Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, from injuries suffered in an explosion last week at his home, there. He was 70 years of age.
He had lived in Pittsboro the greater part of his life where he was a member of the Christian Church and the Masonic Lodge. He was a World War I veteran.
Survivors include the widow, Beulah Jones; a son, Roy E. Jones, Brownsburg, who is a co-owner of the Jones & Matthews Mortuary, there, and two granddaughters, Cindy and Jenny Jones.
Funeral services were conducted, Saturday afternoon, at the Jones & Matthews Mortuary.
