Viola Mary Loyas (Wille), age 95 of Rice Lake WI, passed away at her home on October 31, 2012. Vi is survived by siblings: brother Raymond (Mabel) of Rice Lake and sister Loretta Pastwa of Minneapolis. Her children: Marianne (Fred) of Arlington Texas, Son Thomas (Diane) of Minneapolis, MN, Son Ronald of Rice Lake, WI, Son Douglas (Sharon) of Rice Lake, WI, and Daughter Karen (Thomas) of Minneapolis, MN. Additionally, Viola leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild.

Vi will be welcomed into heaven by her husband Walter, son Daniel, and sister Pauline Hiber.

Vi was born January 11th, 1917 in Rice Lake, WI. She dies as a loving wife, Mother, Favorite Grandmother, but mostly someone everyone wants to claim as best friend.

Viola's a rare soul whose perspective on life remains a model for all those who mourn her. Viola lived without want for credit nor accolades and passes with having earned both. She was unequivocally the best of us. Her death proves a shock in spite of 95 years, because she grew stronger each and every one of those years. She knew the keys to life worth knowing.

Viola pushed to enrich life, enjoying not only moments with family and friends, but all time in between. Through shear will she forged a sharp mind that allowed her to increase her activity and travels at an age when others have long since given up. She counted herself lucky to have lived so fully, but make no mistake it was deliberate.

Selfless in every respect Viola met hardship with grit, encountered grief with an inexhaustible supply of courage, and possessed an uncanny ability to reframe any situation into a means to persevere. Viola's only weakness remains a penchant for a stray cookie.

Her legacy remains a picture of strength to revisit in moments of tumult and a source for pride in times of joy. Giving even to the end, she expressed the desire for those of us she leaves behind to limit our mourning and continue to celebrate the spice and electricity of life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Monday, November 5, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rice Lake, WI, Fr. James Powers officiating, with interment in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 - 6:30 PM Sunday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals and for 1 hour prior to the service at the Church.
