Mary Ann Olivia (Wilson) Barnes - "Died Sunday at her home in Weston at the advanced age of 82 years, 10 months and 24 days, having been born in the year 1815. She was the mother of five children, all surviving. Remains interred at Machpelah on Monday. (Ind. Tues. 11 Jan 1898)" - EXTENDED ACCOUNT: "Mrs. Barnes ancestors arrived in the New England Coast about 1635. The place was at Bradford, Mass. In 1790, Dr. Samuel Adams, her grandfather, moved with his family to Western Pennsylvania and purchased a farm near Pittsburgh. Her mother, Mrs. Mary (Adams) Wilson, was the first white child who was ever carried across the Allegheny Mts., being three years of age. Later, Dr. Adams moved to Beaver Falls. Some years afterward, Capt. Benj. Adams, her great-great-grandfather, who had won historic fame during the Revolution, joined them in their new home and remained until his death. Her mother, MARY ADAMS, was married to JAMES WILSON in 1805. Mrs. Barnes was born in 1815 in Beaver, PA. In 1823 the family moved to Washington, PA. Later the family moved to Parkersburg, VA. After this they moved to Weston i 1832, when a brother-in-law, a Methodist minister, was appt. to this place. Lewis Maxwell of Weston later became her brother-in-law. On January 1, 1846, she married Dr. NEWTON BENNETT BARNES. He died in 1873. Six children: four daughters and two sons - all living except the eldest daughter, Sophronia. They are John A. Barnes, T.N. Barnes of Weston, Mrs. M.M. Eaton, Mrs. M.T. Frame and Mrs. Chas. O'Hara. They lived in Canonsburgh, Pa., for two years, but returned to Weston.
