KINGMAN, Ariz. -- Wallace (Wally) John Tripp Sr. died at home Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005. He was the husband of Pauline V. (Parisee) Tripp. They were married 57 years. Born in Fall River, Mass., he was raised by his grandparents, Lucy and Issac Tripp. He was educated in Westport, Mass.
He worked on his grandfather's dairy farm and also was a newspaper carrier for The Herald News in Fall River, Mass., and The Standard-Times in New Bedford, Mass., in the late 1930s and early 1940s.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving two years, one of which was in the LION 8 Occupation Forces of Okinawa. He returned home and married Pauline, and they moved to California, where they lived for 40 years. Upon retiring, they moved to Kingman, Arizona in 1993.
He was an automobile mechanic. He worked as garage supervisor for GTE for 20 years, retiring at age 57. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus and a Fourth Degree Sir Knight. He has been Grand Knight twice in the past and also held many other positions within the Knights. He was an author of many short stories sent to the Library of Congress.
Mr. Tripp and his wife traveled to nine countries on their 50th wedding anniversary. They celebrated each anniversary thereafter with cruises throughout the world, visiting some 23 countries.
