Mrs. Myrtle Hoover, 89, and a former Vernon resident, died Thursday in a San Diego, Calif., nursing home following a lengthy illness.

Born in Athens, Tenn., in 1890, she was the daughter of Wilbarger County pioneers Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Stephenson and came to Vernon with her family in 1903.

Services have been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sullivan Funeral Home in Vernon. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Clara Mae Mattus of Honolulu, Hawaii: seven sisters, Mrs Ora Hines of Chickasha Okla., Mrs. Eura Burrus of Raymondville, Texas, Mrs. Pearl Ogle of Cleveland, Tenn., Mrs. Beulah Cherrard of Stanton, Calif., Mrs Elma Ehlers, Mrs Viola Rose of Atherton, Calif., and Mrs Vivian Guyer of Anaheim, Calif., and three grandchildren.
