Funeral services for Ms. Virginia Ada Ransby Alford will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2001 in Ebenezer United Methodist Church, where she held membership, with Rev. Newton Williams, pastor, officiating
Ms. Alford of Jacksonville died July 15, 2001. A native of Franklin, Ga., she resided most of her life in Jacksonville. She was employed by the Duval County School System until she retired in 1976 after 26 years of dedicated service.

Surviving are her two sons, James D. Alford III of Jacksonville (Maggie), and Dr. L. Craig Alford of Charleston, S.C. (Dr. Eleanor); daughter, Mrs. Marilyn A. McDaniel of Fairburn, Ga. (Otis); eight grandchildren, Otis McDaniel and Myron McDaniel of Fairburn, Ga., Mariena Alford, James D. Alford IV, Justin Alford and Jonathan Alford of Jacksonville, FL.; Lauren Alford and Leah Alford of Charleston, S.C.; two great grandchildren, Deja McDaniel and Otis "Tre" McDaniel of Montgomery, AL; three brothers, Otis J. Ransby (Claudia), Robert Ransby and Falton R. Ransby (Annie); sister, Mrs. Muriel R. Latimer (Grady); a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, July 20 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The remains will be placed in state in the church Saturday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery
